If you have previously attended a WDMQ Level One course and require to re sit a particular module to pass the qualification then please contact us directly on 01502 733501 for further advice.

Course tutor for the week will be Mr M W Burrage. The first four days will be predominately classroom based with the fifth day being the assessment day. Successful candidates will be awarded the Wild Deer Management Qualification Level One certificate; all candidates will be awarded a certificate of attendance.

* Species of deer found in the British Isles- Red / Sika / Fallow/ Roe / Muntjac / Chinese Water Deer

* Damage Identification
* Rifles - Ballistics - Zeroing
* Taking the shot - Reaction to shot - Gralloching a deer
* Census - Records - Trophies - Cull selection
* Fencing - Highseats - Forest Design
* Law and Liabilities
* Equipment and use of dogs
* Range Tests
* Simulated Stalk

The five day course culminates in a day of examinations designed to test the candidates knowledge of the topics covered. In addition a range test is conducted to ensure that the candidate is accurate and humane when using a deer calibre rifle.

Successful candidates will be awarded the Deer Management Qualification Level One and are then able to register for the Level Two portfolio

Description: Level 2 is based on in-the-field experience, further details regarding accredited witness outings are available upon request.

We can provide you with professional assistance ranging from registration to completion of your portfolio as an accredited witness for WDMQ.

Shadow Stalking / Photography

Description: After several requests from members of the general public we are now offering a shadow stalking experience, this entails following a member of staff on either a census stalk or actual cull stalk. The purpose of these outings is to help educate the general public and allow them to experience the thrill of professional deer management first hand. It is an ideal opportunity to photograph both the deer and their habitat. If you are interested please email mark@wilddeer.co.uk

Please note that a certain degree of physical fitness is required for these outings along with the ability to wake up early!
